Adepticon 2013

Hi there,

I know I absolutely stink at posting new stuff.  So here are some preview shot of my Adepticon Team Tournament army.  It consists of 3 warbands led by Sharku, Captain, and a Shaman.  Each has 11 warg riders, to 22 with sword and shield and 11 with bows.

One warg rider on a scenic base.

Better group shot

Another small group shot.

One of my dismounted orcs

Dismounted Captain.

So back to painting I need to get a few more done.  I hope they look ok.  My partner is John at Plastic Legions.  Never was very good at links.  But his is on the right hand side of this post, under the blogs I follow.

New Year

Hello again.  I have to say that after reading my friends blogs, I have decided to TRY and post more.  To my loyal followers I say "thank you".  This year will bring more posts.
Some of you may know tha I am teaming up with John at Plastic Legions for the Hobitt team tournament at Adepticon this year.  I am very excited to be a part of this---John is an excellent hobbyist and we share the same view of  the game.
The Hobitt is my favorite game to play and I am looking forward to getting support for the game from GW.  The next three to four years should be exciting times for all "Hobitt" players and hobbyists.  That being said I need to go and see the Hobitt again.  The first time all I could do was think of how that would be cool to build and paint, if they make the models.  If they don't my hobbying skills will be put to the test, I forsee a few dioramas in the future.  Hopefully I can enter them in a golden deamon if I can get to Memphis for Gamesday this year.

Taking a cue from another blog I follow Here is a list of what I hope to accomplish this year.
1. Build and paint a 600 point evil army for Adepticon. (This has to be done or my partner will kill me).
2. Buld and paint a 600 point good army for Bilbo's Birhtday Bash.
3. Build and paint1000 point 40K Army.  (Minotaurs--hopefully using all forgeworld pieces)
4. I want to at least paint a box of Perry Brothers Civil war minis.  Probably union soldiers but that is still up        in the air.
5.Complete at least one diorama I have had in my head for a very long time.  I have three to choose from and I really don't want to spill the beans on these until I start working on one of them.
6. Would like to build and paint one box of Bolt Action figs.  101st Airbourne for sure. Not sure if I will play the game but I do want to paint them.

Gamesday 2012

Wow!! It has been a while since I have done anything on this blog.  I went to gamesday yesterday in Chicago.  Recently I have fallen into the trap of the salty veteran gamer, sour towards Games Workshop and their recent price hike.  However,  I was fairly excited for 6th ed to come for 40K.  This blog ws set up to be a hobby blog and not just a rip session on GW.

So while I was at gamesday today it occurred to me that while I have been in sour mood lately, the reason why we do this is the our friends we have and the new ones we make.  It is not about Gamesworkshop.

I walked around quite a bit and stopped by some friends running a LOTR club table.  Spent some time with them and a couple other friends.  I was able to talk to alot of friends and that's when I had the epiphany.  It's the people we know and the people we meet that make this all worth while.

Once again this year I won the Armies on Parade at the local GW.  Pictures will be put up later.  While setting up the entry at Gamesday yesterday, I saw some absolutely beautiful entries.  Jim Wappells Tomb Kings come to mind.  Holy Crap they were good.  While he did not win this year my personal opinion is that he should have.  I mentioned to Jim that I thought he should have won and he graciously said thank you.

So to my followers here, I am going to try and do semi monthly updates on my hobby.  I have some very interesting ideas, both for 40K and LOTR.  The first of which is I will put up is my army lists for an upcoming LOTR tournament "Bilbos Birthday Bash"(B3) in November.  I will be playing 2 new armies as this tournament requires bot a good and an evil army.  Bonus's for having a combined theme.  They also have a painting contest and I am excited for this project also.  I will keep you posted as that progresses.  The last project I have going on is a new 40K army-----I have started this already and will post pics later as well.  (Very similar to an armies on parade entry I saw today).

Here is my list list for my evil army
Sarumon
Uruk Hai Captain
Uruk Hai Captain
15 Uruk Hai Warriors with Shield
15 Uruk Hai warriors with Pikes

I am going to starting this army in the next few weeks.  Then I will start the good army and finally the display board.

I know, I know I am a week late.  But here are the pics of the models I was supposed to have done last week.  Eomer Marshall of the Riddermark and 3 Rohan Royal Guard on Foot.  It was slightly less than 150 points.
So there you go, my first months committment.

Octobers committment will be 12 Riders of Rohan   4 with Bows    4 with Hand Weapon and shield  and 4 with Throwing Spears.  This will hopefully get done before the end of the month.

Thanks for loooking.

Bilbo's Birthday Army

So I am once again playing in the Bilbo's Birthday Bash Tournament.  I am yet again playing a new army.  Since 2008, when I started playing in tournaments I have only once played the same army, that was last year when I played Dwarf Rangers in both B3 and the Adepticon singles tournament.  Now I don't travel as much as some of the other players but I still pride myself on having a different army at each event. This keeps it fun for me, while I like to win, I don't want to play with the same army and just tweek it over a period of time to make it stronger.  Many of the lists I use in tournaments are models that I already have.  Sometimes I have to purchase a few just to finish out what I have written down.

Here is a few preview pics of what I will be bringing to Bilbo's Birthday
The Fifedoms
Knight of Dol Amroth

Axeman of Lossanarch

Ranger of Gondor

Clansman of Lamedon

These are just preview pics and I am sure I will find touch ups on them.  Not sure yet about the bases either.  Prince Imrahil will be leading the way along with some Knights of Dol Amroth on Horseback.

Let the Painting Begin

After a long hard day of building the models for this competition, here are the models I have committed for this month.  Still have some green stuffing to do.

Eomer Marshall of the Riddermark.
Three Rohan Royal Guard.

While I have always used GW paints, I am going to try and used mostly Reaper and Valejo paints in this project.  Looking for different shades of tans and browns for the leather armor.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Keep reading and I hope to have some pics of painted stuff in the next week or so.

Starting---Tale of 4 AWC LOTR Gamers

Ok So after making the commitment to this ordeal.  I als realized that I wanted to do a Fifedoms list for Biilbo's Birthday Bash in November.  So while I am doing that and working on other projects, my commitment for September will be....
Eomer Marshall of the Riddermark.
3 Rohan Royal Guard on Foot.
Which means October will have to include some major troops so I can get in a game.
Let the games and modelling begin,  Those guys south of the border aren't going what hit them.
